Words Painting Pictures

This is a project for my Typography Class. The basis of this project was to create an image by only using type and one dingbat. the text itself is supposed to come from a song of our choosing and should match the subject matter in some way. Not much else I can really say about it clearly so I'll let this one speak for itself.

Here's the final image that I settled on doing. The song is Indestructable by Disturbed, and the image is the flaming skull with sunglasses that serves as Team Daigurren's Logo in the Gurren Lagann anime series. I felt that the image and the song merge perfectly together, because of the way the characters in the show are portrayed. If you've seen the show, you know that all of the characters kept fighting against impossible odds to accomplish their goal. The song speaks about the mentality of a great warrior, and can easily be used to describe the characters in the show. After all, they always seem to be unbeatable in the end.

  

These here are some of the thumbnails I drew for this project. They were other images for other songs, and I ultimately settled with the one in the very center because it was the most practical with the amount of time I had been given to do this assignment. Still, I think that some of the other images would be cool to do, and if I have the time, I might just go back and do them.
